Santiago 02.09.2009

We arrived in the afternoon and met our fourth travelling companion at the Hostel Foresta in Santiago Centro. Beautiful old city with lots of modern development. The Andes are a constant backdrop much like in Denver but closer. Wandered over to an adjacent neighborhood travel office to buy domestic airline tickets, eat a sandwich, and exchange currency. The list of things to do when initially arriving in a foreign city never is small. Then we visited Cerro Santa Lucia, a decorated hilltop with great vistas in the middle of town, and the Plaza de Armas (central square). In my opinion, this city seems to be far more modernized, developed, and cleaner than Lima, Peru, but I may be incorrect in my assumption due to my limited surroundings.
