Day 3 - W Trek, Refugio Curenos to Refugio Chileno (9 miles)
Torres Del Paine National Park, Chile

Following a night in the tent at Refugio Cuernos, we moved on towards Refugio Chileno with three other Americans that we met at dinner. They were from California, so naturally we determined that we were far superior in our hiking and treking capabilities than they were. But this accusation was found to be completely inaccurate as we moved ahead. A partly cloudy and warm day. The trail was beautiful as we finished the wrap-around of Los Cuernos and began to enter a valley heading up towards the Torres Del Paine proper. Our spirits were lifted. When we arrived at Chileno we found a secluded hostel along the river with a nice staff and hearty food. We spent two nights at this hostel and were treated to baked chicken, rice, fruit cocktail a-plenty. Sack lunches were also provided following breakfast. They usually included a sandwich of the previous evenings entree, muffin, fruit, and breakfast bar.
